Mo'vember | koalaguy's Blog

I noticed that EP is promoting a Beard/Moustache theme for November. I used to have a beard and moustache. I kept it trimmed short, so that it looked neat enough for job interviews and for volunteer work. It was nice, not having to scrape my whiskers off each day. My skin is a bit sensitive, and there's no hot water tap over the basin in my bathroom. I have to boil water if I want hot water anywhere (except for the shower... which only has a hot water tap. lmao!) At the beginning of 2008, after Mum had been through a rough patch (we thought she was going to die), I was visiting her one day. Conversation had not been easy for years. She had short-term memory loss, so keeping track of a conversation was beyond her. This day she was studying my face. She lay back for a moment, then turned her head to me again and said "You're not going to do anything mean to me, are you?" For a moment I was speechless. Then I assured her that she was safe with me. She accepted that at face value. When I went home, I shaved my beard and moustache off, thinking that perhaps it had made me look a bit threatening. I have a good electric razor now, so I'm still clean-shaven. Edit: I should probably clarify for those who haven't seen my other stories that at this stage Mum didn't know who I was. She didn't know any of her kids. This Blog Entry's Comment Board There are no comments on this post yet, be the first to leave one!
